The Wallace Collection

The Wallace Collection is similar to The Frick in New York - an incredibly large and richly decorated private home that was made into a museum.

Lots of 18th-century French painting and furniture (some things from the King's Quarters in Versailles!) and overall very impressive - huge collection for such a relatively small space. Here are some of the various rooms...each has a different wall color - rich burgundy, royal blue, emerald green...beautiful jewel tones!

Here are a few pieces of REALLY cool furniture...

this was in the king's bedroom in Versailles...

and check out the reflection of the chandelier in the mirror!

Here is the chandelier....

and here are some other amazing chandeliers in the house...

And here was the volume of paintings...this is just an example of every other room...

Really amazing place - I'll definitely be back for object reports on objects but I wanted to go a bit earlier to get acquainted and comfortable with the place - now I know where to go/how to get there/what kinds of objects are here so I'm good to go!

Other than that...I did some work today. Nothing exciting. Except the picture of my beet and goat cheese lunch :)

Long day of class and physical therapy tomorrow - going to sleep early!
