Tableaux competition

There is an annual end-of-the-year competition that my course takes part in...called the Tableaux Competition. Groups get together and must recreating paintings (so wonderfully nerdy) and it gets competitive. People do not share plans and we only see the results in powerpoint form on the day of the competition. This is serious business, people.

Never one to miss out on competition (I kind of thrive on competition), my friends and I got together with some wine, face paint, and ipads ready to tackle the challenge in one night. Here was what we came up with...I consider this our Masterpiece.

The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp, by Rembrandt, 1632

We also did a few solo shots...here is Liz as Saint Mary Magdalen with the Smoking Flame by Georges de la Tour, 1640
Lily as a Van Gogh self portrait, 1887

and ME as L.H.O.O.Q. by Marcel Duchamp, 1919

Here was the competition....

and our TEACHER no less

and the winner...this was incredible. Despite being sad that one of our pictures didn't win, this was the clear winner - Dani. Amazing.

We ended our last day of class with a review lecture, this competition, and then a picnic in the park.

So long, Christie's family! May we all meet up again soon.
